Michael Mauro gives the world those seconds in time that invigorate our senses and takes us to places that might otherwise never be seen.
It's no surprise Mauro was recently recognized by The Banff Mountain Photography Competition sponsored by National Geographic for having one of 2007's best mountain pictures.
Michael caught nature in it's finest form as a mother grizzly bear put on a display to intimidate an approaching lone bear from poaching her and the cubs meal.
The ability to witness such compelling events and more importantly capture them on film to share with the world makes Mauro a true artist. Wildlife and wilderness photography is not for the faint of heart there is always an element of danger whose reflection is seen in many of Mauro's predator shots. Getting up close and personal with the hunter and the hunted can be an exhilarating and daunting task.
Michael's passion and career have carried him to 6 out of 7 continents producing majestic backdrops and exotic scenes to satisfy every daydreamer. Michael's 2006 trip to Wudang Mountain, China is a true testament to his talent. From the historical Taoist monasteries to the people who inhabit what is frequently referred to as "The first mountain under Heaven", the essence of a culture and community are profoundly exposed within his lens.
